The Closing Film of the   2025  Contemporary World Film Series  at TK Park will be screened on Saturday 13 December 2025, at 4:00 pm .

The film tells the story of a perfectly normal family- laughing, joking, playing football, and recording home-videos.

And then suddenly eleven-year-old Emma and her older sister Caroline are shell-shocked when they are told that their parents are getting divorced. The reason- the father is transitioning into becoming a woman!  Before they know it, he goes to Thailand for his sex-change surgery, and returns as an attractive lady, Agnete. The family go on a holiday together, where Agnete calls herself their ‘mother’. Emma, the younger daughter, struggles to come to terms with the transformation, and her turbulent emotions are portrayed with remarkable sensitivity in the drama.

The film captures the family’s journey through confusion, love, and acceptance, with Agnete remaining patient and caring throughout.

This is the debut feature of the director, inspired by her own experience of having a father who transitioned to a woman. That authenticity perhaps explains the outstanding performances, especially of the daughter Emma, and the transgender Thomas/ Agnete.

The film premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival, where it won a major award, and has since made a strong impact at major festivals worldwide, winning several prizes, including Denmark’s prestigious Bodil Awards. It is the story of a normal family whose whole life changes when the father wants to transition into a woman.

The movie won awards at major international  film festivals, and Denmark’s prestigious Bodil Awards.

The film event is supported by the Embassy of  Denmark, who will host a Reception after the screening.

The Ambassador of  Denmark HE Danny Annan will introduce the film.
