Watch the upcycled works of second-hand clothes and fabric scraps turned into art and fun items in 'As I Sew', an exhibition by Sunburn The Kid
"As I Sew" is a solo exhibition by Sunburn The Kid that presents the artistic process through hands-on practice. It begins with second-hand clothing and defective fabric scraps. The artist uses these materials to question value and perfection in a contemporary context through the processes of cutting, patching, sewing, and arranging.
In this exhibition, everyone will encounter works ranging from small pieces to large ones, created from scraps of fabric and colorful second-hand clothes of various textures, which are deconstructed, cut, pasted, and sewn together. Each piece can be considered one-of-a-kind in the world, because instead of planning the work in advance, the artist chooses to arrange the fabrics according to instinct and curiosity in the moment. The resulting works thus have unique colors and shapes, which, when combined, resemble emotional landscapes that record feelings on fabric. Each piece also performs the role of telling its own story very well.
Anyone who likes clothing details, crafts, or fun color combinations, as well as those looking for inspiration to start doing something without overthinking, is invited to come and meet at the exhibition As I Sew by Sunburn The Kid, one of the first exhibitions under the project MMADness is Calling: Dare Fully, Be Unrestrained.
