Curator Tour : Glass Plate Negatives: Circles of Centres
invites all those interested to join a journey through time with Thanphuying Sirikitiya Jensen, curator of the exhibition “Glass Plate Negatives: Circles of Centres.” This exhibition presents a collection of glass plate photographs from the National Archives of Thailand, as part of the project “Glass Plate Archives: A Thousand Images of Rattanakosin History – Edition III.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear a talk by the curator on the conceptual framework behind the exhibition, including the selection process of over 80 historical photographs and the design of a contemporary exhibition experience, divided into five thematic chapters: “Mingling of Silver Grains and Light”, “Fragments”, “Circles of Centres”, “Trips to the South & Beyond” and “The Punctum.” The tour will also offer new perspectives on photography as a record of identity, culture, and the transformation of Siam from a traditional mandala system into a modern nation-state.
Limited to 100 participants.
