The Emotional of Past and Destroy

Patipan Somthip

Date:

22 May - 23 Jun 2024

This series of works by the artist expresses deep-seated emotions within the psyche, confronting adverse events and the emotions of pain to the extent of becoming a state of depression. The artist discovered that art is a healing tool to treat wounds and helps one quickly overcome depression. This is conveyed through shapes drawn to reflect deep-seated feelings abstractly. Lines and overlapping shadows represent emotions that overlap like knots that cannot be untied. Once completed, the unresolved feelings are released, liberating the individual from emotional entanglement.

Exhibition Statement
The expression of art that reflects my identity adheres to the Emotionalism Theory, emphasizing the importance of conveying feelings and emotions. Each artwork created under this theory portrays abstract characteristics, requiring analysis, interpretation, and understanding of emotions of deep emotions evident in the work. These pieces express profound emotions within the mind, reflecting my true inner self. During times of introspection, art serves as a substitute language, rapidly evoking feelings in response to adversity and emotional pain, often leading to states of depression.

Each creation is a direct reflection of my inner self, crafted swiftly, sometimes in mere moments or hours, each piece a manifestation of rapidly evolving emotions faced with adversity and deep pain. Art becomes a remedy, each piece acts as a self-therapy, swiftly alleviating depressive states. The observed characteristics of the artwork include abstract forms devoid of defined shapes, guided solely by deep emotional sentiments. Lines and shadows intertwine, mirroring overlapping emotions, reflecting chaos and the lack of emotional order. Although each piece may stem from negative emotions, meticulous attention is given to the creation process, resulting in a release of emotions beyond repair, as if freeing oneself from the confines of emotional evolution.
