Take the next exit from the search for freedom, bid BeChanida’s abstract paintings, and learn of the exhilarating impermanence of the here and now from its afterlife as archipelagos of color upon a canvas criss-crossed by lines and shapes.
Her solo exhibition, “Freedom in Space”, shows the essential question of her art practice– “what is freedom, really”– reconfigured by a new ethos– “it’s being present”, “no longer needing to search at all”– that has precipitated a shift in visual language from dense lines and instinctive gestures to an approach that is quieter and restrained, though charged by an unabated vitality.
