ATTA Gallery is thrilled to host the second edition of an exhibition series Collector / Curator / Conversation: The Art of Collecting, the Craft of Curating, the Power of Conversation. “I like it. What is it?”: On Jewelry, Curiosity, Recognition and Connection, co-curated by Atty Tantivit and Chalisa Viravan, will be on view from 29 January – 22 March 2026. The opening reception will be held on 29 January between 6 -8pm.
What began as a personal relationship with jewelry became, through many reflective conversations between the collector, Atty Tantivit, and the curator, Chalisa Viravan, a shared inquiry into how inner states are sensed, mirrored, and recognized, shifting the exhibition toward a deeper psychological and energetic inquiry that privileges sensing over explaining.
About the Exhibition
“I like it. What is it?”
This is the question I ask myself when I encounter a piece of jewelry that draws me in.
I am often attracted to jewelry that resists immediate understanding, pieces that are complex, conflicting, or quietly provocative. They do not reveal themselves at once. Instead, they spark curiosity.
Interestingly, when I wear these pieces in my daily life, I often hear the same question echoed back to me by others:
“I like it. What is it?”
In that brief exchange, something subtle yet meaningful happens. Curiosity becomes a reason to reach out. Jewelry becomes a point of contact. Two people—often strangers—are momentarily connected through a shared interest, a shared question, or perhaps a shared value.
These moments are not planned. They are not prolonged. And yet, they are often intimate and memorable. They do not rely on explanation or dialogue, but arise naturally through a shared experience, an acknowledgment of presence, curiosity, and shared humanity.
In this way, the jewelry I wear functions both as a magnet and a filter.
It attracts those who are curious. It filters for those who resonate.
My jewelry becomes a quiet conversation device:
Let me be myself, and let those who recognize it come closer.
If this intrigues you, perhaps we understand the world in similar ways.
I will let you see me…if you can meet me where I am.
Perhaps we are all, in our own ways, searching for these moments where curiosity becomes recognition, and recognition becomes connection… and maybe, like me, you are also waiting for the moments when someone truly sees you.
