the film centres around a boat-journey meant to induce romance between a rich investor Franck and a girl he has fallen in love with Justine . What he doesn’t know is that Justine is married, her husband is the organiser of the boat-trip, and their friends are the staff , all of whom want a share of the €14,000 he has offered, for this romantic get-away weekend trip
Given free creative control, Justine and her unemployed husband Albin devise their own profit-making version of the ultimate love boat experience, with their motley crew of friends, all keen to make a buck. They plan a fake luxury cruise for the lowest cost possible!
Cheap wine, improvisational picnics, money-making canal-locks , hilarious disguises, are various devices they carry out, in their game-plan. But Franck is oblivious and chases Justine, even as her husband makes uncalled for appearances, his friends try to hold the fort, and the all-knowing audience chuckle throughout the film.
The highlight of the film is the array of vibrant, almost outrageous characters, including a singing waitress, a gallery attendant who swaps his own paintings for the museum-masterpieces, a hypnotist who holds short sessions online with a green screen stuck to her back! Director Bruno Podalydes and his brother Denis Podalydes also have vivacious roles in the film, which has won over audiences in many countries. The ensemble cast are well-established names in French cinema.
