"Perplexa Scenario"
Between the surreal world,
Encounter the impossible.
In the midst of dreamy fantastic realm,
Experience the unseen beyond imagination.
From Hieronymus Bosch in the 15th century to the romanticism by Blake, Goya and romantic sublimity of Caspar David Friedrich. Then, since the Symbolist art by Böcklin, Moreau and Odilon Redon at the end of 19th century resulted in DADA and automatism in Surrealist art by Salvador Dali and René Magritte in the early of 20th century, the creation of Other-Worldly type of art was developed dramatically and combined with some styles of art into many imaginative art genres, such as Lowbrow art by Robert Williams, Pop Surrealism by Mark Ryden and New Surrealist by Glenn Brown, Ewa Juszkiewicz and Ray Caesar. Furthermore, they were also branched out to numerous sub-genres, e.g. Paradoxical art by M.C. Escher, Dystopian Surrealism by Zdzisław Beksiński, and also the realm of fantastic arts, such as Fantasy art, Magical realism, Cthulhu and Lovecraft art, etc. Subsequently, the late 20th century until the beginning of millennium, those legacy can be found in the art movements that inspired by the advance of technology and dream of future, e.g. Retro Futuristic and Sci-fi art. Recently, the latest art movements showing the surreal form must also include Algorithmic Art by Refix Anadol and AI generated art that common people can create an unreal visual by themselves; only typing a prompt via mobile phone applications like Midjourney and Playground, etc.
Despite centuries having passed, many kinds of otherworldly works of art which depict scenes or events that cannot be seen in the real world where we live in, they have been created continuously. As if we, as humans have never stopped seeing the unreal in their vision. As such, we cannot hide but keep seeking the way to express and share it to the world.
