The works explore feelings of uncertainty across different emotional landscapes. While marked by vulnerability and anxiety, they are equally imbued with tenderness, love, and resilience. Together, they invite viewers to contemplate the relationship between memory, emotion, and healing, creating space for personal reflection and self-discovery.
Working primarily in oil on canvas, Ratch Osathanugrah embraces an Intuitive Painting process, painting without preliminary sketches and allowing colors, forms, and compositions to emerge organically through instinct and emotion. This approach gives each work a sense of immediacy, spontaneity, and emotional authenticity, capturing the essence of the moment in which it was created.
Although he developed a passion for drawing from an early age and studied art during his school years, Ratch spent much of his professional life in business before returning to painting during the COVID-19 pandemic. That period became a pivotal turning point, leading him to pursue art with renewed dedication. While his practice draws inspiration from artists such as Marc Chagall and Vincent van Gogh, he has developed a distinctive visual language that is unmistakably his own.
More than a personal narrative, Princess of Anxiety invites viewers to explore the intersections of memory, emotion, and healing. Rooted in the artist's own experiences, the exhibition offers an open space in which each visitor may discover their own meanings and emotional connections.
