Both music and art are disciplines that share similarities. Structurally view, symbols, and meanings of sounds can be conveyed through arrangement, harmony, and expression of emotions without the need for any words. When we listen to instrumental music, we can perceive sadness, happiness, love, or even rage.
In the higher study of music, a single stroke on the piano can convey flowing water, stars, an explosion of emotions, or the flight of a bird. A single note in music, from a musical-physical perspective, consists of rhythm, dynamics, and pitch. The arrangement based on a musician’s thought system allows these elements to be organized into a piece of music that can convey endless meaning.
In terms of visual art, each time I apply color, it simultaneously creates the physical presence of lines, colors, weight, shapes, and textures. My drawing process is like improvising visual elements without any pre-planned design, allowing my mental state to guide the creation toward its aim. Applying brushstrokes with a larger mass of color than usual, quickly and confidently, produces textures that are unusually raised and deep, generating attraction and stimulating emotions through the rawness of the visual elements that appear suddenly. It leaves traces of thought and feeling without a narrative, traces of movement direction in slow and fast motions, and moods in the color shades, inviting viewers to emotionally engage with the work without reasoning. One simply needs to freely release their feelings and imagination with the piece; that is the Rythm of my colour#1 for me.
