The Poetics of Place II: Contemporary Jewellery, Textiles and Objects by Australian Artists
Curated by Melinda Young
🗓 15 May – 13 July 2025
📍ATTA Gallery
Opening Reception: Thursday, 15 May, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
The Poetics of Place II brings together contemporary craft, object, and textile works by artists from Australia and Aotearoa (New Zealand). The exhibition explores layered notions of "place" in postcolonial contexts, examining the physical and emotional geographies of the artists’ personal and community narratives. Through materials and techniques, the artists poetically navigate issues of cultural tension, environmental concerns, and histories of occupation, reflecting on the complexities of settler experiences in lands never ceded by First Nations peoples.
