The focus of the Wings of Innocence exhibition is the work titled “Tiny tiny Icarusy icarusia,” which is a reinterpretation of the Greek myth of Icarus. Typically, the story of Icarus is remembered as a tragedy of ambition and the fall into ruin. However, in this piece, the artist chooses to depict Icarus as a boy experiencing infantile regression — a return to childhood to escape the pressures of the world and embrace complete innocence. The melting wax wings are therefore not a symbol of defeat, but rather a gentle release, a surrender to the slumber within a dreamlike world.

"The Wings of Innocence," a solo exhibition by artist TAKUYA MITANI, will be on display from February 22 to March 22 on the 2nd floor of Joyman Gallery, Bangkok.

Everyone is invited to the exhibition opening on Sunday, March 1, at 5:00 PM.
