Where there is narrative, there is memory. As time passes, the remnants of memory leave behind subtle, fading traces—yet ones rich in stories. History journeys through time, through places, through people. These experiences collide with truth and crystallize into evidence of the past—embedded in objects and concepts that shape value and interpretation. Change is the essence of truth, but the sediment of truth is memory: smoldering, lingering, and gently staining.
Remnants of Fading Shadows is a contemplative space to explore the movement of memories—fragile, personal, yet interconnected with broader currents of society, politics, history, the state, and the nation. It also reflects on nature’s trajectory in the face of ecological breakdown and societal collapse, where traces are left behind.
This exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the seemingly insignificant or forgotten—those tiny fragments that might hold the sediment of pivotal moments in personal and collective life. Shadows of the past converse with the present in silent phrases that evoke remembrance. These traces do not simply fade with time; rather, the memories behind them, worn by the passing years, become like ashes of shadows slowly fading away.
