ADVENTURE IN EIGHTY-TWO X FORTY PLANET

There is a planet whose name I do not know.
Its scenery feels empty and strange, yet oddly ordinary.
It is said that intelligent beings have lived here in harmony with nature for thousands of years,
the two once inseparable.

But as time passed, they began living like a cancer of the planet—
encroaching, quietly destroying,
until it became so familiar that no one saw it as wrong.
This way of life passed down from generation to generation,
unchallenged and unquestioned.

I gave this planet a name: EIGHTY-TWO X FORTY.
Here, there is something peculiar—
its inhabitants cannot see the depletion of its resources,
only the narrowness of the things they desire.

I stayed here long enough to start liking that narrowness.
After all, everyone else seemed to like it too.
And when everyone is like this,
why should I resist?
Perhaps… I had been conditioned from the very day I fell upon this planet.
