H0M0HAUS, with Goethe Institut present solo performance for Germany. Story of a young trans man who embarks on a quest to explore his identity and sexuality, using the dating app Grindr to connect with other men. However, he grapples with feelings of insecurity and rejection.
‘T-Boy On Grindr’ explores the experience of being a trans man simultaneously with gay sexual culture through a hybrid performance combining text, music, and movement. The body of trans men which are always dictated into being a non-male body, not to mention the conflict between outside norm and perception of self that is always seeking love, visibility, and connection in a world where acceptance is not always easily found.
In the present that society claims to embrace diversity, do we truly accept it? Can we acknowledge that transgender men are indeed men? Can we judge people beyond their physical appearance? In a society steeped in binary thinking and conventional beauty standards, how do we embrace this diversity?
Do those who live outside norms and stereotypes have no right to seek love and acceptance in our society?
