The 3rd Asian Theatre for Young Audiences Meeting

From Attention to Action: Children’s Realities and Rights in Asian TYA

We warmly invite artists, producers, and educators who are passionate about or working in performing arts for young audiences to gather, connect, and converse under the main theme: “The Situation and Rights of Children in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) in Asia.”

In an increasingly uncertain global context—marked by social, political, and environmental challenges—children today are growing up in rapidly changing and often unstable conditions. Yet, as practitioners of Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA), we continue our work with a shared belief: that regardless of the complexities they face, every child holds the fundamental right to grow in a healthy environment and to access meaningful artistic and cultural experiences.

.This meeting brings together artists and practitioners across Asian contexts to reflect on both the realities children face today and how TYA practices and approaches are responding to them. While each context differs, we believe in the importance of learning from one another through the sharing of practices, challenges, and perspectives. The meeting will explore the needs and impact of TYA, and further examine how children’s rights can be centered in both discourse and practice.

By bringing these perspectives together, the meeting aims to spark new ideas, encourage dialogue, and explore possibilities for collaboration. It is a space for collective learning—where practices can be rethought, adapted, and developed to better respond to the needs of children in our region.

Who Is This For?

1) TYA Artists, Producers, and Educators looking to exchange perspectives and find fresh inspiration to develop their own work.

2) TYA Practitioners interested in exploring the Asian TYA landscape and seeking future collaboration opportunities.

3) Artists, Producers, and Educators from other artistic disciplines who want to get to know and discover the TYA scene in Asia.
