Unspoken

Chumpon Kamwanna

Date:

28 February – 26 April 2026

The Unspoken is Chumpol Kamwanna’s reflection on the importance of the things left unsaid. It is about restraint and containment, but at the same time, it presents the power of silence, which allows interpretations beyond spoken words.

.

This exhibition connects the artist’s past to the present, exploring his aspirations and artistic journey. From the beginning of his career, Thai politics has been a major subject in his work, from the many coup d'états during his adulthood back to the many unrests happening in the past. He aims to bring to the surface issues from a commoner’s perspective that have been hidden or forgotten, whether intentionally or unintentionally, using striking colours to draw attention from audiences accustomed to the fast pace of contemporary media. His works often carry a sense of humour and poetic sensitivity that reflect who he is. For him, beyond the realms of art and creativity, a profound love for reading and the enduring influence of literature have played a vital role in shaping his identity and intellectual foundation.

.

Kamwanna emphasises the ideas of the mental landscape, where external events diffuse internally and manifest in visual form. It is a transformation of experiences in a full circle, from outside to inside out, and from personal to public. In these new works, the figurative has become abstract. He conveys not the subjects themselves but his emotions toward them. Consequently, his recent body of work evokes the sensation of reading, where silent words and lines take shape, weaving themselves into a powerful narrative and allowing him to communicate

without words.
