DECO BOKO 凸凹 brings together two distinctive artistic voices, Bathma Kaew-Ngok and Naomi Daimaru, in a vibrant exploration of imperfection, individuality and the unexpected beauty found in contrast.
Derived from the Japanese expression deko-boko (凸凹), meaning "uneven", "bumpy" or "irregular", the exhibition embraces the idea that beauty does not depend on uniformity or perfection. Instead, differences in form, character, perspective and expression become a source of energy and connection. Through their individual yet complementary practices, the two artists invite viewers to reconsider conventional notions of beauty and discover the charm, humour and humanity that emerge from things that do not quite fit neatly together.
Presented side by side, their contrasting perspectives echo the very meaning of DECO BOKO, with different forms and personalities coming together into an engaging and harmonious whole. Rather than smoothing away irregularities, the exhibition brings them forward, encouraging visitors to look beyond polished surfaces and find joy in difference, curiosity and authentic expression.
