Zootopia is a solo exhibition by Htein Lin, presented by West Eden with Coming from Kalaw. It is the gallery's second exhibition with the artist, following Ek Kha Ya in 2025. The works are large painted hangings, shown alongside a group of painted masks on stands. The animals, creatures and hybrids that fill them carry stories.
In Ya Mone Na Patt Pyo, a classical Myanmar song about a fisherman separated from his lover becomes a river landscape of human-faced fish, with a mermaid placed in the fisherman's boat for reasons the song never gives. In My Hope for a Metamorphosis, Htein Lin draws himself as the many-limbed creature of Kafka's novella, with four upper hands spelling out the word "hope". Arachnid Enclave grows out of Grace Estate, the organic farm in Pindaya where he is building a sculpture park and artists' residency.
