RCB Experimental Art Lab, in collaboration with NUNi Productions, proudly presents “Waiting for G.D.” — a contemporary stage adaptation of Waiting for Godot, the iconic absurdist masterpiece by Samuel Beckett that has captivated audiences around the world.
This absurdist play follows two close friends, Tako and Sali, as they wait by the roadside for a mysterious figure known only as “G.D.” With no clear destination or certainty, they hold on to the hope that his arrival might somehow change their lives. Their conversations loop, moments repeat, and time seems to stand still in a cycle that never quite resolves.
At its core, the play explores the idea of endless waiting — the two characters spend their time anticipating something that may never come, as G.D. never actually appears. It reflects the monotony of everyday life, highlighting emptiness, boredom, and the repetitive routines we use to pass the time. Along the way, passing characters like Linchee and Cherry bring brief moments of excitement, but ultimately leave the situation unchanged.
“Waiting for G.D.” captures the essence of absurdism, reflecting the human condition and our search for meaning in a seemingly indifferent world. As a modern interpretation of a timeless classic, the play invites audiences to reflect on the idea of “waiting” from multiple perspectives — philosophical, spiritual, and social.
